The Diamond Importers Association (DIA) a non-profit -making organization founded
in 1959, is the oldest diamond regulating organization in Hong Kong. It has among its
members, the leading diamond retailers, jewellery manufacturers, diamond dealers
besides the main diamond importers into Hong Kong.

It aims to fortify the reputation of its members, to protect consumers' rights, to raise
the local standard of diamond trading and to ensure that members of the public can
buy diamonds with confidence in Hong Kong. It is constantly on a mission to
reinforce Hong Kong's status as "The Diamond Centre" of Asia on the world map.

All DIA Members are pledged to sell diamonds under the strict codes established by
the Association. This ensures the buying public they are getting true value for any
diamond bought from Members of the DIA. An "Introduction Card Kit" which is
available from the Association's office gives guidelines on how to buy diamonds
safely and with confidence.

The DIA also organizes design competitions such as their annual event. The Hong Kong
Diamond Design Competition
which since it's first contest in 1972 has contributed a great
deal in promotion the standard of jewellery design in Hong Kong by encouraging local
designers to take the challenge of original design as well as creating a wider awareness
internationally of Hong Kong as the centre of high quality well-designed jewellery.
