Members type: Wholesaler/Retailer/Manufacturers of Chuk Kam(24K),
Karat Gold, Diamond and/or Jade.
Organization Objective: Encouraging development, protecting and nurturing
the Hong Kong Jewelry Industry. Act as a mutual co-ordinator between members
and other business related associations. Resolving dispute at an impartial
manner.
Services Provided:
- Setting down the price of jewellery gold every day, and notifying
its members of such prices;
- Submitting the representative views of the Association to the Government
of Legislative matters which affect the jewellery trade. The Association
has submitted views on the following:
- the Gold Marking Order
- the Platinum Marking Order
- the 1987 Weights and Measures Ordinance
- the Green Paper on Representative Government;
- Holding regular meetings with the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Royal
Hong Kong Police, and circulating information on the latest security systems
to its members;
- Sponsoring/organizing jointly with the Hong Kong Trade Development
Council in providing promotional activities concerning the jewellery trade
and industry of Hong Kong. Such functions include
- Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition (once per 2 years)
- Hong Kong Jewellery Show (in March Annually)
- Assisting the Hong Kong Tourist Association in assessing the genuineness
of gems and diamonds;
- Cooperating with the Hong Kong Consumer Council in dealing with consumers'
opinions on the jewellery trade;
- The Association is represented in the following Committees:
-The Jewellery Industry Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development
Council
-The Jewellery Industry Training Board of the Hong Kong Vocational Council;
